A Pre-Season Overview

St Mirren:
This Saturday Posh begin their pre-season out in La Manga against Scottish side St Mirren, after the fixture with Nottingham Forest at the Pinatar Arena has been cancelled. The club arrived in La Manga on Thursday, ahead of the training in preparation of the fixture. The game will now be hosted at La Manga Club Resort and is available to be watched by the supporters making the trip abroad. The game will kick-off at 7pm on Saturday evening and is a chance for the boys to play together for the first time.

Stamford AFC:
After Posh’ return from La Manga, they make the short trip to Stamford’s Zeeco Stadium to face the Daniels, on Wednesday 10th July (7:30pm Kick-Off). Posh faced Stamford last season, coming out with a 5-1 win. A Matty Stevens brace, as well as goals from Joe Ward, George Cooper and Siriki Dembele, saw posh fire five past the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division East side.

Kettering Town:
Posh then make the trip to newly promoted Kettering Town, on Saturday 13th July (3pm Kick-Off). The Poppies had an extremely successful season, being promoted to the National League North, where they’ll face local side Boston United.

Posh travel to Lamex Park on Tuesday 16th July (7:45pm Kick-Off) to face League 2 side Stevenage. The last time Posh faced Stevenage in a league fixture was in the 2013/14 season, when we won 1-0 away thanks to a Nicky Ajose goal. Stevenage finished 10th in League 2 last season.

We then travel to Barnet to face them on Saturday 20th July (3pm Kick-Off) to face Darren Currie’s men at the Hive. The national league side have a couple of Posh players from recent seasons, including Shaquille Coulthirst and Ricardo Santos.

Bedford Town: Peterborough then take on Evo-Stik League South-East side Bedford, in their third to last pre-season game, on Tuesday 23rd July (7:45pm Kick-Off). Posh travelled to Bedford last season and came away with a 4-2 win, courtesy of goals from Tyler Denton, Siriki Dembele, Anton Rodgers and Danny Lloyd. Bedford will be looking for promotion this season, after their fourth place finish in the league that local side Peterborough Sports won.

Grimsby Town: The main last game for Posh in pre-season comes at Blundell Park, where they take on Grimsby, on Saturday July 27th (3pm Kick-Off). The Mariners finished 17th in League Two next season, as we play them as part of the deal in Siriki Dembele’s contract. Grimsby include former Posh goalkeeper James McKeown, who departed London Road in 2011.

Deeping Rangers: On Monday 29th July, Posh then take an XI to face Deeping Rangers at the Haydon Witham Stadium. Deeping, who play in the United Counties League, were beaten 4-1 by Posh in last seasons pre-season, thanks to foals from Danny Lloyd, Morgan Penfold and a brace from Ricky Miller.
