Oxford 1 Posh 0

Another abysmal performance yesterday, as we suffered our second straight defeat, away to Oxford.

I don’t even know where to begin on the first half. It was awful. Numerous sloppy, misplaced passes, no organisation, losing the ball, nothing went right. I wouldn’t say either team deserved to win, but Oxford took the lead on 12 minutes, through a fine volley by Cameron Brannagan. Alex Woodyard failed to clear the cross well enough, giving him time to fire the ball past Christy Pym. Oxford had several other chances in the first half, hitting the post through Tariq Fosu and a shot wide from Ben Woodburn.

Ferguson made two changes at half time, bringing Josh Knight and Frazer Blake-Tracy on for Mo Eisa and Dan Butler. Posh created more during the second half, but still failed to really test Simon Eastwood. Marcus Maddison had a good effort tipped over the bar. Ben Woodburn then missed an absolute sitter, when James Henry hit the bar and fell kindly to Woodburn, who could only fire over from around 8 yards.

Ultimately, it was another abysmal performance and something needs to be changed. Frazer Blake-Tracy and Josh Knight, both really impressed me when introduced at half time and George Boyd looked much more of a player when allowed to work further forward. Christy Pym didn’t impress me, making a rather strange save with his chest and Dan Butler was very poor once again.

The whole back four wasn’t particularly great again and Dembele was awful; he tries to beat a man every time he has the ball and even if he successfully beats them, his final ball is either awful or he just loses it. Mo Eisa did nothing to an extent I forgot he was even playing. Toney was once again isolated and I felt bad for him once again.
